Los Angeles based photo-based artist Joe Guimera is best known for his digital montages. He manipulates photographs, graphics, illustrations, and drawings to create striking abstract and surreal works with unusual combinations of images and arbitrary colors. His images exhibit the influence of Surrealism and Dada with an explosion of unexpected color. His work occupies a space between figuration and abstraction, with figures melding with buildings, landscapes, and geometric forms in vividly colored multilayered compositions.
Guimera's book From the Flea Market which examined random and interesting juxtaposition of objects at flea markets was published in 2012. he is also the editor of two art books: Eyes On: Abstracts and Eyes On: Landscapes.
